Instructional Fashion: How To Dress Preppy

How To Dress Preppy
Fashion is a way of expressing yourself. Everyone has their own style. There is the hipsters, the preppy, the classy, the scene and more. You have to know what style you are, what goes with your personality. I recommend that you don't jump from one style to the next. You want to be classy, not trashy. Don't go from being preppy to goth. That's a terrible statement. The video above shows how to dress preppy with some of the topo brands such as Lacoste, Brooks Brothers, and Ralph Lauren.  if your style is preppy then I would recommend watching this video. If your style isn't, go to youtube and type how to dress....what ever you style is. The only thing about this video is that some my not be titled to prep and also I think it should be a bit more professional. But besides that, enjoy this PREPPY video!

Instructional Fashion: How To Sketch a Fashion Design

How to Sketch a Fashion Design
Sketch design is a huge part of fashion. An outfit comes alive because of a sketch. The design gives the idea of what the outfit will look like on the runway or out on the street. As sketches are examined, things do change and the cut off on a shirt or the length of a dress may be changed. Sketching is a way to express fashion because it's all about ideas and putting random materials together. When I first started to sketch, I was absolutely terrible but I kept practicing and got better as time went by. So I recommend if you are interested in fashion and sketching to start sketching at the pace you like then look for some direction in ways to sketch.
I would say this video is more on the intermediate level than beginner. If you are a beginner, the only thing about this video is that it may be hard to focus and understand if you do not have previous experience with sketching.

Le Début De La Mode: The New Start

When most people hear the word 'fashion', the first thing that pops in their minds are pretentious runway models and multimillionaire designers that 'over price' their clothing. People think of the industry as flashy people living in la la land, but in reality, they aren't. They are living their everyday lives doing what they love as their job. Some simply don't understand the concept of that or what fashion is and a  majority of the people who think they know what fashion is, don't. They look at fashion as some trendy, spontaneous materials of the season that will be thrown to the back of their closets in months time because there will be a new trend later in the season that is bigger and better.

There is so much more that goes on behind what is seen on the runway. It's so much more than so called 'overambitious' designers and the latest runway trends. People devote their time and talent towards this admirable industry. They produce some of the most extraordinary, passionate, bold creations that have changed the world as time has evolved. I understand that people have their different concepts of fashion. In the eyes of some, is a story that is told with exuberant details or to others it could be just as simple a t-shirt paired with some worn out jeans or baggy sweatpants, but people do need to understand that it's not a pointless industry and we would be nothing without fashion. If we didn't have this industry, we would all be boring, characterless people with absolutely NO personality to stand out from one another.

My fashion instincts began as a child around 3 years of age. I tried very hard to stand out from everyone.  I had quite the obsession with Dorothy, I used to think I was going to be the NEXT Dorothy. I wore the gingham blue jumper matched beautifully with sparkly rudy red slippers. I had such confidence in my Dorothy attire but maybe a bit too much, as I wore the outfit for days on end. If you ask people what I was like when I was younger, their answer would most likely be "DIVA". I was perfectly fine with that label. I wanted to stand out yet be the center of attention at the same time. Many of my attention seeking appearances included a pair of VERY pink cowboy boots and pink sparkly moccasins from Nigro's Western Wear, sequin shirts and skirts, and much more that would take much longer to name. My sense, more along the lines of dress-up, swiftly changed.

I really began to understand what the definition of fashion and style was when I was 11 years old. A movie called The September Issue, which is a documentary about Vogue editor, Anna Wintour, came out and this movie showed me things that I never imagined I would fall in love with. It showed me a side of fashion  that I had never seen. It was the start of my never ending love for this faddism.  The movie made me want to be successful and hardworking and be someone who can be so influential to an industry. So as I have grown older, I have realized that I don't what to be the next Dorothy, I want to be the one and only Mary Helen Guastello and I ask you in joining me in this journey of starting a fashion blog and learning about enviable and captivating fashion wonderland! La Mode Félicité.
